Classes for tai chi and qigong which have many proven benefits are held at CMAC Mississauga, as part of our Niei chi (internal arts) program. Tai chi is considered “the grand ultimate fist” and often referred to as meditation in motion, and qigong involves “working and cultivating energy.” Ba gua, the “8-trigram palm,” is also studied. Concepts of self-healing, stress management, relaxation, and mental health are focused on.

Tai chi · Qigong
Tai chi instruction is on smooth, flowing movements that are timed with a student’s breathing. Stress relief, mental health, and healing are emphasized. Qigong and meditation are included in the weekly practice. Self-defence is an exponent of this instruction. Due to the slower pace of this program, progress will require patience and consistency. We recommend a minimum 6-month commitment to start.

Internal arts, in complement to external arts such as karate, emphasize energy management, healing, mental health, and stress relief through meditation, sets, exercises, and pre-arranged sequences.
Stress relief is an essential part of overall fitness and wellness. Through Nei chi practice, we are essentially defragmenting the chaos that goes on in our head throughout the day for a reframed and clearer perspective.
Tai chi chuan is an ancient Chinese art of self-defence, conceived as a series of soft, slow, and flowing sequences of movement specifically designed to cultivate and direct the internal power that circulates through one’s system, which improves the practitioners’ health, and provides a source of energy for self defence.
Qi gong means working on your intrinsic energy—building and cleansing it. Through the practice of Qi gong one is able to strengthen and balance qi circulation and slow down the degeneration of the body, gaining not only health, but a longer, happier life.
Like Tai chi chuan, Bagua is rooted in Taoism. It uses circle walking for basic training, along with smooth coiling and uncoiling movements, a variety of hand techniques, dynamic footwork, and throws. Like other internal martial arts, students move on to more complex forms, weapons training and internal power mechanics upon advancement.
